A Living Room
The living room is the heart of this home. When we started this project, the previous owners had dealt with failing ceiling plaster by building a drop ceiling about a foot underneath it. This brought the height of the room under seven feet and made the room feel very cramped and uninviting. There was also no focal point in the room. We addressed the ceiling issue by replacing it was a new ceiling at the original height and built a new custom fireplace as a discussion piece and focal point. The location of the fireplace draws you into the home and leaves you wanting to explore more.
Improvements:
New drywall, paint & trim.
Refinished original hardwood floors.
New energy efficient craftsman style entry door with leaded glass.
Removed the drop ceiling and replaced with drywall at the original ceiling height.
Added a new craftsman inspired fireplace with custom herringbone tile and custom oak mantel.
Furniture is minimal, earthy, and mid-century modern inspired.
